One-Arm Deadlift (dumbbell)
Bodyweight Strength - The One-Arm Dumbbell Deadlift is essentially the same exercise as a Sumo Deadlift except that it is performed with one hand at a time and it is performed with a dumbbell instead of a barbell. Otherwise, the exercise technique is identical. Place the dumbbell right between your feet (which will be in a fairly width stance - as in a Sumo Deadlift) and then perform the one-arm Deadlift from there.
This is an excellent bodyweight based exercise that will increase bodyweight strength, core stabilization, and functional strength in lifting objects from the floor. When performing this exercise you will typically performed the planned number of repetitions with one arm and then perform them all with the other arm. However, a variation would be to perform one rep with one arm, set the weight down; and then perform one rep with the other arm and set the weight down...etc. Both methods of performing the exercise will be of value.
