Standing French Press
The Standing French Press is a classic strength and bodybuilding exercise that is not utilized nearly as much as it once was. However, its ability to build strength and muscle in the triceps is phenomenal and it should be utilized by anyone who is trying to build up that area.
To perform it simply hold a chambered curl bar overhead with your hands placed on the narrowest inward tilted section of the bar. Without moving your elbows at all, low the bar down behind your head until you triceps have stretch completely through their range of motion. Then, using your triceps, extend your elbows to push the bar back up again. Do not lock your elbows out on the this exercise. This is because of the extremely narrow grip and the danger that locking out could cause to your shoulder joints. There are other tricep exercises that you can lock your elbows out on. Just not this one.
