Rear Laterals

Rear Laterals are another good functional strength exercise that is often viewed as a bodybuilding exercise. It is true that the Rear Lateral can build rear shoulder muscle and definition (which is what bodybuilders love about it), but it also develops many of the muscles of the rear shoulder, rotator cuff, traps, and upper back in a very useful and functional way. If you don't normally utilize Rear Laterals in your routine, try minimizing them in for a while (they're a small lift, so you don't need t remove another lift to fit them in) and you may be surprised to see some of your big strength lifts increasing due to your increased strength in some of the little muscles that this exercise works.

The technique for Rear Laterals is exactly the same as the technique for Side Laterals except that with Rear Laterals you will be in a bent over position (identical to the position you utilize for Bent Rows).
