Jump Rope
Jump Rope is a fairly straightforward bodyweight strength and conditioning exercise that most of us have done at some point in our lives. The key about jumping rope is to keep in mind that in order to utilize Jump Rope as an exercise, you must first master the skill of jumping rope consistently without tripping on the rope. The main factor is timing the rope and the jumping to be in sync. 9 times out of 10, the reason people jump on the rope is that their jumping continues at the same pace and their rope swinging slows down until eventually they trip over it.
A good way to work on Jump rope at first is to aim for a certain number of total jumps per set:, 30, 50, 75, 100, etc. Once you can do 75+ jumps in a row without tripping you aer ready to begin performing your Jump Rope for time rather than number of jumps. Start with one minute, then 90 seconds, then 2 minutes, etc. If you stick with it, eventually your will be able to jump rope for 3 minutes or longer without stopping. When you get up to this level of Jump Rope, one of the keys is breathing control. You will have to learn to breathe steadily and calmly in order to jump rope for that long.
