Clean (hang below knee)
Bodyweight Strength - The Hang Clean below the knee involves a shorter range of motion than the standard Clean and can allow you to focus energy and effort on just this portion of the lift. It can also assist in training the body to more fully utilize the hamstrings and transfer their power through the hips during the Clean. This makes this exercise very functional for developing overall bodyweight strength, flexibility, and power.
Simply start out standing holding the barbell in front of you and then pivot at your hips and do a semi-squat until the bar passes below the knees. Once is passes below the knees, smoothly change direction and begin to lift the bar back up by flexing the hamstrings and pushing your feet firmly into the floor. Once the bar passes the knees and you reach the power position, explode with all of your power and perform a Clean as described in that exercise description.
