Clean (From Blocks below knee)
Bodyweight Strength - The Clean from blocks is a fantastic way to build "starting strength" (going from 0 to 100 instantly). Set the bar on a set of "pulling blocks" at a level that places the bar height just below your knees. From this position you will initiate the movement and then when the bar clears the knees and you get to the "power position" you will explode with all you've got and perform a Clean exactly as you would perform a stand Olympic style Clean.
The advantage offered by this version of the Clean is that it trains the body to perform the Clean without the full motion from the floor, thus your body has to learn to develop its full force potential within a shorter range of motion so that you don't begin to rely on the force generated between lifting the bar from the floor and the knee level.
The other primary purpose of this version of the Clean is that it allows you to focus on a shorter portion of the Clean and thus work out any kinks that may have developed in your technique.
