Clean and Jerk
Bodyweight Strength - The Clean and Jerk is one of the lifts performed in Weightlifting in the Olympics and it is a phenomenal exercise that combines functional strength, power, speed, flexibility, and rapid coordination of the entire body. It is a very high level lift and can take years to truly master. Its combination of all of the primary aspects of fitness except endurance make it an excellent exercise to work towards mastering and including in your routine. It will expose any weak points in you very quickly and therefore serves as a good gauge for determining when you are tight, weak, slow, uncoordinated, or inflexible in any areas of your body and helps you assess what you need to foam roll, stretch, or strengthen in order to re-balance your body and the kinetic chain (the interdependent working components of the body).
To perform the Clean and Jerk you will simply perform a Clean as described in detail on our page for that exercise and after fully stranding up from the Front Squat portion of the Clean, you will follow it up with a Jerk as described in detail on our page with the description of the technique of that exercise.
