Broad Jumps
Bodyweight Strength - Broad Jumps are a classic bodyweight strength and explosiveness exercise that serve a very good indicator of muscular power generation in an athlete. As a result the standing broad jump is often measured to compare athletes side by side to predict who has more athletic potential for certain explosive sports.
To perform a Broad Jump:
Simply stand with your feet at approximately a shoulder width stance, rapidly dip down into a semi-squat and let your arms swing back to build momentum; then as they swing back forward use the momentum they generate as well as the power that your rapid semi-squat generated to launch yourself up and forward (with both feet leaving the ground simultaneously) as far possible. Land on the ground with both feet at the same time in the same shoulder width stance as before. Repeat for the planned number of repetitions.
